Trending: Non-surgical PDO Threads Facelift Choice
More now than ever, people are looking to avoid going under the knife and seeking a more natural look versus the traditional more expensive surgical facelift procedure. Because of this, the field of regenerative aesthetics is advancing at an incredible speed with more and more options available. With new technological advances behind it, the PDO Thread Lift is a very popular and successful minimally invasive procedure for those patients looking to tighten up loose, crepey skin anywhere in the body!
What Is A PDO Thread Lift?
A PDO lift is a minimally invasive, non-surgical facelift where the skin is lifted and tightened using Polydioxanone (PDO) threads (the same dissolvable threads that have been used in surgeries since the 1980s). These threads are inserted and anchored into different layers of the skin and pulled to instantly lift and tighten sagging skin - giving immediate skin lift results. Over time, these treads dissolve and force your body to increase collagen, cellular renewal, improve the appearance of skin texture, minimize the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and extend the longevity of the lift. A PDO Thread Lift treatment can be done alone or combined with other treatments such as PRP/PRF, fillers, and Botox or Dysport treatments to enhance results even further.
How Do PDO Threads Stimulate Collagen?
After the threads are inserted under the skin, your body gently reacts to their presence by creating a “selective” inflammatory response that produces collagen. Many aesthetic procedures like microneedling, fractional lasers, and other skin tightening treatments utilize this same healing mechanism to get healthy skin results. Our skin is excellent at repairing itself and by using PDO threads to lift loose skin, the skin’s natural response to heal itself by creating new collagen will leave you with healthier, younger-looking skin.
What Are The Benefits Of PDO Threads?
How Long Will PDO Thread Results Last?
With a PDO Thread Lift, you will leave the office with instant results, and you will continue to get long-term benefits! PDO threads are absorbed by the body over approximately 4-6 months, all the while your skin will be repairing itself. The threads gradually dissolve but the resulting lift and skin tightening from PDO threads remain for another 6-12 months due to the increased collagen produced by your skin. On average, most patients will see results for this type of skin rejuvenation for several years.
What To Expect During A PDO Procedure
First, your provider will assess and mark your skin for the thread insertion points. Then a local anesthetic is administered before inserting threads under the skin with a needle. When the tread reaches the desired endpoint, it is anchored to the appropriate tissue structure and the cannula (a tube used to administer the thread into the desired area) is removed, the thread is pulled taut creating tension that lifts the tissue. This process is repeated with 2-20 threads to create the desired lift. The specialized needles allow small areas to be tackled effectively. The practitioner then massages the threads to smooth tissue. Depending on the number of areas and size of areas being treated, the procedure time will vary but can take anywhere between 30-60 minutes. There is very minimal downtime and no general anesthesia is needed. As there are no incisions, stitches are not required, scarring is unlikely and immediate results can be seen.
Is This Treatment Safe?
This treatment is completely safe. It is approved by the FDA for safety and efficiency. Moreover, hundreds of thousands of treatments have been performed and there are no reports of allergic reactions, sensitivities to the threads, or serious side effects or risks.
What Do I Need To Do Before Treatment?
Since PDO thread lifts are non-invasive, there isn’t a lot you need to do to prepare. However, there are some precautionary measures you can take to ensure the best results from your treatment. Here are things you should avoid 1-2 days before treatment:
Is There Downtime With The PDO Thread Lift Procedure?
After treatment, some patients may experience some swelling, slight bruising, or pain at the treatment site - all that will subside within a few days to a week or two. Over-the-counter painkillers and anti-inflammatory medications can be taken if desired.
What Areas Can Be Treated With PDO Threads?
Threads can be used to address sagging in the following areas including the upper and lower cheeks, forehead (brow lift), jawline, neck, lips, smoker’s lines, nasolabial folds, and marionette lines, abdomen, knees, and more.
