What to expect with CoolSculpting, and how much does it COST?
First, what is CoolSculpting?
CoolSculpting is a fat reduction treatment. It is the only FDA-cleared procedure to use controlled cooling to safely target and eliminate diet- and exercise-resistant fat. What does that mean? There is now an easy treatment to eliminate that stubborn fat that just wont go away even when you are dieting and exercising. CoolSculpting results are proven, noticeable, and lasting, so you'll look and feel great from every angle.
How does it work?
It comes down to science. Fat cells freeze at higher temperatures than surrounding tissues. CoolSculpting technology safely delivers precisely controlled cooling to gently and effectively target the fat cells underneath the skin. The treated fat cells are crystallized (frozen), and then die. Over time, your body naturally processes the fat and eliminates these dead cells, leaving a more sculpted you.
What to expect before, during and after treatment?
Start by coming in for a free consultation. At this consultation a provider will go through your area(s) of fat loss opportunity with you. They will then determine which applicator(s) will be the best fit for you to achieve your individual goals by taking measurements and making some marks on your skin. The CoolScultping consultant will determine how many treatments and how many cycles they recommend to get the best results and give you a general timeline and options for packages to purchase (financing also available). Once you start your treatment the cooling begins and during the first few minutes, you will feel pressure and intense cold, this may feel like cramping, pinching or pain initially. This soon dissipates. Many people read, watch videos, work on their laptop, or even take a nap during their treatment. The CoolSculpting fat freezing procedure is completely non-surgical, so you can typically return to work and normal activities immediately. you may experience deep pulling, tugging, pinching, numbness or discomfort. Following the procedure, typical side effects include temporary numbness, redness, swelling, bruising, firmness, tingling, stinging and pain. Typically this does not interfere with daily activity, but if getting the abdomen area treated you may want to have an option for looser pants for the few days following your treatment. Rare side effects may also occur. The CoolSculpting procedure is not for everyone. You should not have the CoolSculpting procedure if you suffer from cryoglobulinemia or paroxysmal cold hemoglobinuria. The treatment length depends on how many areas and what areas you are getting treatments. Each application last 35-75 minutes (35 for most 75 for outer thigh).
When will you see the results?
In the weeks and months following your procedure, your body naturally processes the fat and eliminates these dead cells. Once the treated fat cells are gone, they're gone for good. You may start to see changes as quickly as three weeks after your treatment, and will experience the most dramatic results after two months. But your body will still flush out fat cells and continues doing so for up to four to six months after treatment.
The big question… How much does it cost?
Unfortunately the answer is not quite that easy. The price for CoolSculpting procedures varies depending on your areas of concern, the number of sessions needed, and your ultimate goals. The average patient is about $2000-$4000, again, not super helpful. How the cost breaks down is that every time the applicator is placed on your body (in the desired treatment area) that is considered a cycle. A cycle costs about $750-$1000 retail price (discount package breakdown to come). So for example, if you wanted to do your abdomen (around your belly button), most people are 4 cycles (or 4 applications). The applicator would be placed in a diamond shape first maybe in a rotation pattern, something like: on the lower right side of the abdomen, the machine then vacuums the fat in that area into the applicator and then you freeze. Then the applicator would be moved to the lower left and repeat. Then top left and finally the top right. With each of the cycles the fat that is vacuumed into the applicator, there is damage and eventual elimination of 20-25% of those fat cells. After 8 weeks if you decide you want a second treatment (or even a third down the line) each treatment will eliminate an additional 20-25% of fat cells and will be another 4 applications (or 4 cycles) each time. This would make a total treatment for the abdomen 8 cycles (or 12 if you go for the 3rd treatment). If you carry your weight in higher and/or lower in your abdomen a single treatment may be 6 or 8 cycles. Or is you only have that little pouch below your belly button it could be 2 cycles, and so on.
Packages: As with many aesthetic treatments, the more you do the more you save. Most practitioners follow CoolSculpting guidelines and price break. If you buy a couple cycles (maybe all you want to treat is the under the chin area) then you are more likely to pay the full retail price, but if you are going to do 4 cycles to your stomach and then repeat those 4 cycles for a total of 8, then you enter the CoolSculpting “Love It” package and the discounts generally go up to XX% per cycle. You want to do your abdomen twice and your upper arms and maybe the fat above your knees? Package them all together and get even deeper discounts.
