The Vivace Experience: Radio Frequency Microneedling
Microneedling is a popular procedure that can safely and effectively address a host of skin concerns. Now, an innovative device combines microneedling with radiofrequency energy, taking skin rejuvenation to the next level. There are a number of reasons why Omni Centers brought on the Vivace RF microneedling for your new go-to option for full skin rejuvenation today.
Traditional Microneedling
Traditional microneedling uses a special device that creates micro-injuries in the skin, stimulating the body’s own healing response. Collagen and elastin production are initiated, which effectively tightens skin and reduces the appearance of fine lines and acne scarring. In some cases, microneedling may include the infusion of platelet rich plasma (PRP) into the created holes, allowing for deeper penetration of nutrients and growth factors for more effective results. Long been a favorite treatment of ours as a minimally invasive procedure in overall skin rejuvenation, relying solely on a mechanical technology.
What is Radio Frequency?
In the land of medical esthetics there are many modalities that are available for skin rejuvenation. Light technology such as Lasers with their variances in wavelength and energy fluence allow for different depths for skin rejuvenation, however the stronger the device the longer the healing and social down time. Radio frequency also has its variances but the technology works with radio waves not light waves to heat the skin in order to facilitate the healing response. There are also mono polar and bi-polar technologies with RF with variances in energy fluencies. These have their benefits and shortcomings, one being that it treats thru the skin and that limits the amount of heat that can be generated. The heat is necessary to create a thermal response in the deeper layers to stimulate collagen and elastin production. Usher in the combination of the 2 modalities…. RF Microneedling
RF Microneedling & The Vivace Experience
Vivace RF microneedling adds the element of radiofrequency energy to the traditional microneedling procedure. The RF energy is delivered via 36 small gold needles. In addition to the benefits seen with the micro-injury provided by the microneedles, RF microneedling also delivers RF energy deep into the dermis further enhancing skin tightening and scar reduction. The RF energy heats the underlying layers, causing constriction and tightening of the skin, as well as the stimulation of collagen and elastin production. Because the RF energy is delivered so deeply, it can produce faster, more dramatic results. The Vivace’s insulated needles allow for controlled delivery of a higher fluency of RF deep in the dermis, producing faster more dramatic results The insulated needles also increase patient comfort and reduce the social downtime to little or none. In essence, if we treat the dermis without injuring the top layers (the epidermis) we can address skin transformation while maintaining our protective top layer.
Who is it for?
Vivace RF microneedling is appropriate for nearly any skin type and tone. The procedure addresses the following issues:
- Fine lines and facial wrinkles
- Scarring from acne and chicken pox
- Mild to moderate skin laxity
- Irregular skin texture and tone
Most patients will achieve full results with 3 - 4 treatment sessions, spaced about four weeks apart. The number of treatments will depend on how well the patient responds to the treatment and the severity of the skin issues to be addressed.
Benefits of Vivace RF Microneedling
RF microneedling can offer similar results to ablative laser procedures, but with significantly less discomfort and downtime due to the minimal impact on the epidermis. Topical anesthetic is applied prior to treatment to ensure patient comfort throughout the procedure. Treatment usually takes 1 hour, depending on the size of the treatment area.
Skin is typically red for the first day or two after treatment, but the redness is typically mild and much less than is often seen with laser procedures. There is little or no discomfort after the procedure and patients typically are able to return to regular activities within a day. Makeup can be applied 24 hours after the procedure to mask any residual redness.
Adding Platelet Rich Plasma to the Mix
In addition to offering this revolutionary procedure, Dr. Lauren and her staff can further enhance results for some patients by adding platelet-rich plasma to the mix. Platelets are found in the blood and contain important growth factors that promote cell regeneration and repair. When platelets are injected into the skin immediately following an RF microneedling procedure, the two work synergistically to improve the appearance of the skin. When PRP is added to the treatment, the effects of wrinkle reduction, stretch mark and acne scar improvement are enhanced. In addition, microneedling and PRP are also effective in treating mild hair loss for both men and women.
At Omni Centers we strongly recommend following our post care protocols with proper skin nutrition both topically and internally to achieve your best results. We believe that any treatments you do, should be enhanced by our Omni’s best practice for our patients. Your satisfaction is our purpose.
