“Plasma Pen was developed by Louise Walsh to deliver completely natural soft-surgery plasma fibroblasting with stunning, long lasting results. It is entirely designed to dramatically repair, reverse and mitigate the negative effects of ageing by using our state-of-the-art nitrogen plasma technology, hard science, sophisticated technique, best practice training and support plus all the best pre and post treatment and care which we manufacture and supply all over the world. Consequently, we are able to significantly tighten, lift, resurface, rejuvenate and regenerate practically any area of the skin.”
What is the Plasma Pen:
Plasma Pen is an advanced, non-invasive, cosmetic skin rejuvenation procedure that combats wrinkles while lifting and tightening skin. As we age, the dermal layer of the skin thins, collagen production significantly decreases and we lose elasticity all leading to wrinkling and sagging. This treatment can be used for a variety of treatments to dramatically enhance the look of the skin without expensive surgeries. Plasma Pen is an FDA approved device used to perform fibroblast therapy. Fibroblasts are cells in the skin that make extracelluar matrix and collagen, and produces structural framework (stroma) for tissue and also plays a critical role in wound healing. Collagen keeps the skin taunt and supple.
How does Plasma Pen work:
The Plasma Pen uses fibroblasting to significantly tighten, lift, resurface and regenerate practically any area of the skin. The principle of fibroblasting involves the ionization of gases from the atmospheric air to create a micro electrical discharge or ARC. The ARC never touches the skin, but causes a micro injury to the skin’s epidermal layer while simultaneously heating and disrupting the deeper dermal structure via thermal conductions
What areas of the body can be treated with the plasma pen:
- Accordion lines – the lines that form outside of the mouth when you smile
- Acne scars – improvement in the appearance of post-acne marks and scars
- Crow’s feet around eyes
- Forehead lines
- Jowl / jawline tightening
- Marionette lines – The creases or folds that run vertically from the corners of the mouth down to the chin
- Nasal labial folds / smile lines – The folds that run from the sides of your nose down to the edge of your mouth
- Necklines, turkey neck
- Smoker’s lines – those vertical wrinkles also known as lipstick lines around the mouth
- Stomach – treat stretch marks and sagging skin
- Upper and lower eyelids – Bags and hoods
What are the benefits of Plasma Pen for Soft Surgery?
- No injectable anesthetic required
- No scalpel, no cutting and no ablation of the skin
- No stitches and no scars
- Very low risk procedure with minimal side effects
- Short (Social) downtime
- No thinning of the skin and more uniform that ablative resurfacing using lasers
- No asymmetries and no risks of any overcorrection
- Affordable, effective and consistent
- Long lasting results – usually around 2-3 years and can be permanent
Plasma Pen skin tightening results are impressive but should not be proposed as an alternative to surgery in cases of moderate to severe skin laxity. Only surgery can achieve these kinds of results.
Some of the other advantages of using Plasma Pen for Soft Surgery include:
- Completely predictable and fully controlled energy to skin architecture
- Collateral thermal injury is avoided
- Optimal orientation of the collagen fibers to the surface of the skin
- The architecture of the skin remains fully intact immediately after soft surgery with no thinning or open wounds
How long will it take to see results?
You will typically see immediate tightening then continue to see improvements over the next three months and also see improvement in the appearance of saggy skin. In some cases it may require more than one treatment session depending on the desired results, recommendations are usually between 1-3 treatments. If a second (or third) treatment is desired, the procedure can be repeated after 6-12 weeks.
The Plasma Pen Skin Tightening Treatment Healing Process- A more science based look:
Days 3-7: “Neoepithelialisation” (the formation of new epithelial tissue) becomes visible as tiny carbon crusts which desquamate (flake off) within the framework of aftercare. This occurs rapidly after a Plasma Pen treatment and is usually complete 3 to 7 days post-procedure. These carbon crusts serve as a natural and protective biological dressing and will flake off naturally as the newly formed and rejuvenated “neoepidermis” appears
Weeks 1-12: Plasma Pen is the gift that keeps giving because, parallel to the rapid formation of new epithelial tissue (which constitutes the superficial healing process), our nitrogen plasma treatment initiates a comprehensive healing response over the coming 12 weeks. This healing process is best characterized by extensive dermal remodeling that includes neocollagenesis (new collagen synthesis), neoelastogenesis (the production of elastin), cross-linking between the collagen and elastin fibrils (the alignment and cross linking of collagen and elastin strengthens, plumps, inflates and lifts the structure of the skin above over a sustained period of time) and the reversal of elastotic change (the premature degeneration of dermal elastic tissue). The inflammatory response which occurs during the healing process we stimulate also activates “M2 Macrophages”. These are white blood cells that engulf and digest cellular debris and decrease the inflammation we cause. We also stimulate the migration of “basal keratinocytes” from the basal layer of the skin to the surface and they help fill in the gaps created by the micro-trauma we create
12 weeks-3 years:
Many other exciting things happen including “neovascularisation” which is the formation of new blood vessels and the release of growth factors. These growth factors include “cytokines” – small proteins important in cell signaling that help modulate our immune response, our cell aging and the growth of new cells.
All the positive changes we make with our device underpin future tissue stability (homeostasis) and help prevent/mitigate/slow down many of future negative effects caused by the aging process.
Results: The treated area is visibly smoother, the skin is plump and rejuvenated. Any acne scarring is smoothed and more polished looking. Fine lines and deeper lines are ironed out.
Is the Plasma Pen treatment painful?
Plasma Pen is mildly to moderately uncomfortable. Everyone’s pain level is different and some areas of the body are more sensitive than others. Numbing cream is helpful in reducing the discomfort during treatment.
What are the risks of the Plasma Pen treatment?
The Plasma Pen is a relatively safe treatment, particularly when compared to more invasive cosmetic procedures. However, no procedure is without risks and it’s important to review and understand the contraindications and risks. Risks include:
- Swelling and bruising
- Scabbing and crusting
- Skin discoloration
What downtime can I expect after my Plasma Pen treatment?
There “social” downtime. Downtime is very subjective. What you think “looks bad” and/or is “uncomfortable” can be very different from someone else’s perception. If you are comparing it to cosmetic surgery, then no, the downtime is minimal. If you are comparing it to a light chemical peel where no one can tell you did anything and you are just a bit flaky everywhere, then no.
- Redness, swelling and scabbing in the treatment area
- Average of 8 days downtime on the face and neck areas
- Average of 10 to 14 days on the body, depending on the area being treated and the intensity of the treatment
- Swelling usually begins the day following your treatment, and peaks around day 3
- After day 3, swelling subsides and scabs form.
- Scabs normally begin to fall off around day 6 and 7 (for face and neck)
Please be aware that the days indicated are simply guidelines for average healing time. Healing time and results may be negatively compromised by not following the after care protocol: no drinking alcohol, no smoking and no picking/scrubbing. If your health is compromised in any way, this can also extend your healing time and negatively affect your results.Plasma Pen Aftercare Instructions
Darker skin tones (African American, African, Latin, Native American, Indian, Middle Eastern, Asian ancestry and people of mixed ethnicities) may not good candidates for Plasma Pen.
At Omni Centers we committed to safe and effective treatments for all. When in doubt, we don’t risk it! We do not provide Plasma Pen treatments on Fitzpatrick skin types 4-6:
What is unique about Plasma Pen vs. other Fibroblasting devices?
Other fibroblasting devices are often referred to as Plasma Pen but are not the actual trademarked device. Other competitor’s devices can be purchased from China for as little as $10 and are not true plasma technology. These pens are not suitable for professional use and can be dangerous.
Many of the technicians performing fibroblasting are not professionally trained. There are many contraindications for fibroblasting including but not limited to certain medical conditions, medications and skin types. Do you homework and be very cautious.
