Plasma Pen

The Plasma Pen, also known as fibroblasting, is a revolutionary new method of skin rejuvenation that has swept across Europe and has finally made its way into the US market. Omni Centers is proud to introduce this world-class treatment to our patients!

Plasma Pen is a non-surgical and non-invasive technique with results that can rival full-fledged plastic surgery! Plasma Pen uses a specially designed pen-like device to provide versatile skin restoration for both the face and body! The Plasma Pen can not only repair damaged skin, but it tones, tightens, and improves skin texture, while smoothing out wrinkles, fine lines, and improving the appearance of blemishes of all types.

The Plasma Pen device works using the fourth state of matter, plasma, and the process of sublimation to create an electrical charge. During this process, the plasma arc comes into contact with the skin’s surface, applying direct heat that is then transferred into the inner papillary layers of the skin which contain fibroblast cells.  These cells are responsible for generating connective tissue and allowing the skin to recover from injury or trauma. The heat energy emitted from the Plasma Pen stimulates these fibroblast cells, creating contractions within the skin, forcing the skin to become tighter, and generating brand new skin cells.

Essentially, by stimulating these fibroblast cells, the Plasma Pen is able to mimic and hasten the process of cellular regeneration. The electrical impulses mimic a small act of controlled trauma on the skin’s surface. Once the fibroblast cells are stimulated, they begin a process of restoring skin cells. Skin visibly tightens in the treatment area during the procedure and crusts form on the skin’s surface. Within 5-7 days after treatment, these crusts will fall off naturally – revealing the freshly rejuvenated, youthful skin! In addition, this process of cellular regeneration is able to stimulate the production of vital skincare compounds like collagen and elastin – helping the skin to grow softer, smoother, and blemish free with the youthful elasticity that often disappears with age.

Fibroblast cells are a vital aspect of the Plasma Pen’s treatment method. These are special, star-shaped cells along the skin’s inner layer, known as the dermis. The main function of these cells is to manage the production of connective tissue, skin fibers, collagen and glycosaminoglycans (amino acids within the skin). As a result of this function they play a vital role in the formation of skin cells, including cellular regeneration, cell division, and the healing of the skin after some type of trauma or injury. As we age, the productivity of the fibroblasts begin to decline and the process of cellular division ceases almost completely, except as a response to trauma. Therefore, the process used by the Plasma Pen treatment works by causing a microtrauma which then stimulates a natural, physiological response to heal the skin, and restore its natural look.

Plasma Pen fibroblasting is ideal for Fitzpatrick 1-3 (Fair to medium skin- Northern European and some mediterranean descent). Darker skin tones (African American, African, Latin, Native American, Indian, Middle Eastern, Asian ancestry and people of mixed ethnicities) may not be good candidates for Plasma Pen as there is a higher risk of hypopigmentation.
Here at Omni Centers we used a prescription grade compounded numbing cream and then a secondary numbing agent that allows for a fairly comfortable treatment overall.
Yes, you will be able to drive. The majority of swelling (primarily in the eye area) will start the day after treatment.
The Plasma Pen is a FDA cleared device for skin fibroblasting. Other fibroblasting devices are often referred to as Plasma Pen but are not the actual trademarked device. Other competitor’s devices can be purchased from China for as little as $10 and are not true plasma technology. These pens are not suitable for professional use and can be dangerous. Many of the technicians performing fibroblasting are not professionally trained. There are many contraindications for fibroblasting including but not limited to certain medical conditions, medications and skin types. Do your homework and be very cautious.
